Dutch Type I Musket (700)
It is believed that 4,500 of the Type I and Type II’s were shipped to America from England during the French & Indian War. This is an early iron mounted Dutch Musket by Godefroi Corbau of Maastricht, who worked from 1717 to 1750. This musket has full panel moulding around the lock and tang. This piece balances very well with its large full butt and slender forearm. It has a 46" round barrel available in .75 or .77 caliber. The lock plate measures 6 1/2" x 1 3/16". The throw of the cock is 1 3/4". We are using George Moller’s Terminology on the following Dutch guns as it seems to be the best way at present to label the differences in Dutch Muskets.
