Round Lock Carbine Bore Baker Rifle (501)
Sometime after 1806 the smaller patchbox started appearing because they no longer were going to use separate patches and a loading mallet. Balls were going to be issued with patches tied around them. At first these patchboxes started appearing on flat lock guns. Then in 1823 the round-faced 1796 carbine lock was readopted along with the new nonadjustable rear sight. We also have the 1823 non-adjustable rear sight. These later Baker Rifles do not have quite as much drop or length of pull as the earlier Baker Rifles. The lock plate measures 5 1/4" x 1". The throw of the cock is 1 1/2".
