James II Carbine (676)
James II (1685-1688) was modernizing the British Army, this is one of the new flintlock carbines that was specified “...all made full carbine bore ye full length of 2' 7" every barrel, colored blue with bridle lock.” We have reproduced this gun from the Pierre Cayla Collection. It is believed that some of these were shipped to Maryland in 1695. The lock is marked “Brooke”. The barrel is 31" octagon to round, it is available in .62 caliber. The lock plate measures 6 1/8" x 1 1/8". The throw of the cock is 1 3/4".
