1756 Horseman's (Cavalry) Carbine (730)
This Carbine is basically the same as the 1744 above, but it uses the new 1756 straight pattern lock. The furniture stayed the same until 1779 when the new composite front thimble and the newer 1777 pattern lock was adopted as shown in this picture. There is no longer any carving around the lock panels. The barrel is 37" tapered and flared, in .62 or .66 caliber. The lock plate measures 6" x 1 1/16". The throw of the cock is 1 5/8".
