1778 Sea Service Musket (791)
This later version of the Sea Service Musket with a rounded lock, is basically the same as the early pattern with the exception that a spring has been added to the ram rod pipe to hold a steel ramrod and the 1777 pattern lock is used. Sea Service muskets do not use a trigger plate or nose cap. A small square nut is inletted in front of the trigger for the tang screw. Barrel is 37" tapered round in .77 caliber. The lock plate measures 6 3/4" x 1 3/16". The throw of the cock is 1 7/8".
