1733 French Cavalry Carbine (630)
The French noted earlier than most, a need for a light, short weapon for mounted troops, hence they produced this carbine with a 30 3/4" octagon to round barrel in .66 caliber (we have made this available in .62 or .66 caliber). It is also interesting to note that they rifled some of their carbines and by leaving the first 4" to 6" smooth inside they could easily ram naked balls from paper cartridges down the bore while mounted. We increased the stock pull on this to 13 1/2" from the original 12 1/2". It can be easily shortened to the original pull if you wish. This carbine has a saddle ring bar and swivels. The lock plate measures 5 3/4" x 1 1/16". The throw of the cock is 1 5/8".
