1766 French Pistol (504)
After 3 years of trials, the new weapons of
1763 had alterations made to them to make them lighter and easier to handle.
They did this on the 1763 by shortening the barrel 3" in length and using a
long single front band instead of the two band system. They also made
the butt cap slightly smaller. Many of these were made with iron furniture
during the French Revolution as
listed below. The lock plate measures 5 1/8" x 1 1/6". The throw of the cock
is 1 1/2".
