The New Model 1839. While they were converting the older 1809’s they started working on new patterns, changing the lock which now has a rounded tail, the front barrel band with a longer lower lip, simplifying the butt plate and trigger guard finials. The hammer is also slightly more stylish. The same stock profile was kept with the exception of adding a cheek piece.
The Model 1839-55. Many of the new production 39’s were rifled and a long range rear sight was installed.
