Snaplocks

The Swedish colonized an area of Delaware, Western New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania in the 1630's and according to George Moller the Swedish King sent five companies of infantry to help protect the Colonies, but the Dutch captured the Colonies in 1655 making them part of New Netherlands. The Swedes were armed with matchlocks and snaplocks.

According to M. L. Brown the first evidence of snaplocks is in the 1540's and in 1556 they were refitting German Matchlock Arquebuses to take them.
