1847 Artillery Musketoon (664 B)
The Artillery version is all steel mounted with sling swivels, and was made to take the standard 1842 socket bayonet. Many of these and the Cavalry Musketoons were rifled and used a folding rear sight. The recoil must have been very severe on these rifled musketoons because the rifled musketoons we have disassembled have a lead plug in the butt about 6" long.
