1798 Whitney Contract Muskets Type I (701)
In 1798, Eli Whitney obtained a contract for 10,000 muskets. We have reproduced all components for this gun including stock and barrel patterns. Most of the 1798 contract muskets use the top lug bayonet. The barrel is a 44 3/4" round barrel, in .69 caliber. The lock plate measures 6 1/4" x 1 1/4". The throw of the cock is 1 7/8".
