Virginia Musket Lock Type II & Type III (724)
Working with Terry Kirkpatrick, we now have a nice set of hardware for these muskets. We have noticed that there is a considerable amount of variation in bands and butt plates in these weapons. The lock plate and cock shape changed in 1812. The cock is now the reinforced type and the lock lost its teat like projection. The pans were iron up until 1818 when they switched to brass. The lock plate measures 6 1/2" x 1 3/16". The throw of the cock is 1 13/16".
