Hand Mortar (819)

The earliest known Hand Mortars (grenade launchers) were Wheellocks of the 1580’s. The grenades were lit separately then the gun was fired to launch it. Ben Coogle shoots tennis balls from his and says it will send them two to three hundred yards. They were in widespread use by the 1680’s, grenadier’s became standard in all the Army’s of the world. The breech plug is fitted to the barrel. The length of the barrel is 8" overall with a 2 1/2" bore.
